Happy Calendar
Happy moments seem extraordinary when they occur but their effects do not last as long as we would like. Quite soon we forget about how great they were, and we take them for granted.
So, the challenge is to hold the good memory as long as possible.
Today I started doing something that you may find useful too: my own “Happy Calendar.”
The concept is quite simple: to keep records of the good surprises I get and those good moments that outstand as special. The aim is to be able to look at it in a few days, or in several days, and remember the good things that happened to me.
February has been a very good month, filled with positive news, good surprises, and pleasant happenings. Today, for example, after much resistance, I went swimming. I believe 10 years have passed since the last time I swam. So, at my return from the swimming-pool, I was walking home and thinking how much respect I felt for those people who were at the club and took care of their bodies. Then, I realized I had entered that group today and I congratulated myself for having been stronger than my resistance. And that is when I thought how good I felt and how I wanted to remember this feeling somehow.
So I’ve started my “Calendario Feliz” or “Happy Calendar” and I’ve registered the most outstanding events of this month. There were so many!
I did it very simple: a table in a Word doc. I inserted nice images, arranged the titles neatly (I’m not managing to copy the format or images here, but use your imagination to make your own as pretty as possible) and added events in the corresponding dates. Below you’ll find a draft of it.
The effect of this Happy Calendar is so uplifting!
Try it yourself. Let us all feel very good and attract good stuff in our lives.
Cheers!

Hi Patricia,

Love
Suzie
Hi Suzie,
Thank you very much for your interest! Well, Suzie, look: I tried to transform my nice Word document into a JPG without success at first, then I realized that my February Happy Calendar is so filled with very personal stuff that I prefer not to share it here. In the draft I included in the bottom of the blog, I only placed today’s event, that triggered this idea.
I hope you will understand that I’m not feeling like sharing everything today.
I also hope you’ll pick up this idea and make your own lovely Happy Calendar, Suzie.
Much love to you,
Patricia
Wonderful Patricia.
Why not design one & publish it for sale? You can have lots of general items in there that are not too personal.
Use lulu.com for creating & publishing, or another calendar publisher that has a store.
You could use a few easy tips like the one’s that I used at Tammy’s site, here: http://www.tools-for-abundance.com/my-top-10-tips-for-feeling-happy.html
You can even comment there.
For your readers, I’m certain they will also enjoy being a part of http://www.gratitudelog.com/forwardsteps which is another great way to record happy moments.
Cheers, Thea
Dear Thea,
You are the “Womam of Resources” and I take my hat off to the wonderful abundance of tips and technological information you offer in your sites.
What I find important is the content and the personalization of the Happy Calendar: that each person makes their own in a way that feels great to them. They can even make it with a paper and a pencil and put it on the fridge.
But I also loved your idea of designing calendars especially thought for this aim! Here, I publicly give you my permission to use that idea and make them yourself! You’re so gifted with designing lovely things that I’m sure your calendars will be beautiful.
I agree that Gratitudelog is a great place to show gratitude in an open, public way. It’s a good idea to pay them a visit. I first learned from it at Gary Evans’ site Good to Feel Good
That’s such a cool idea, Patricia! And great suggestions from both Suzie and Thea.
One thing I thought of was using Google Calendar – I have a private calendar on their for my day to day stuff, but it’s also possible to create public ones. Just an idea for now… I think I’ll go try it out this morning.
Thanks!
Hey Lyman,
I’m fascinated that you found the idea cool and that you’re willing to try it yourself! Woohoo! I’m happy because everybody is finding it good and I’m feeling that I’ve collaborated a little. It also had great acceptance among my Spanish-speaking readership (at the Blog en Español section). I love the idea of everyone keeping records of the good stuff!
I’m not that willing to make it public, but that’s just a detail.
